What a knock out!

It's such a nice day can we have the shoot outside today?

Yes we can, arriving early, with help from Poppy, I assembled a make-shift studio outside. Poppy is the creator of Bonnie's Bat Boutique an alternative clothing store specialising in activewear for the goth on the go.

Poppy had enlisted my services to photograph one of her latest designs, a matching set of compression leggings and crop top with an intricate skull and damask pattern.

We munched on a few snacks while going over the brief; a pop of colour with gel lighting but not so much as to overwhelm the garments. Happy with the test shots we waited for the model to arrive.

Stepping into the ring we have wrestler Lauren, L.A. Taylor. A perfect choice to model the activewear with her statuesque frame and toned physique. No stranger to the bright lights Lauren hit the poses like a champ and made the dumbbells we gave her as props look feather-light.

If you're thinking of trying your own outdoor set up don't forget to weight down or otherwise secure your backdrop. Although it didn't feel windy at all the fabric backdrop was acting like a giant sale and had to be tied at the top and base to keep it steady. I also had to double-up on the black fabric to keep the bright sun light from showing through.

It was such a fiercely sunny day that I got pretty burnt on my shoulders. Getting back on topic I'll tell you that the strobe lights, the battery kind I call flash guns, were strong enough even in the bright sunlight to create the desired effect.

To finish I took some relaxed outdoor shots. Lauren was styled with a fishnet shrug and leather jacket as well as chunky boots as outfit inspiration when wearing the set outside of the gym.

I think the whole thing was a knock out.
